Clarifications

I've had a few queries about comments on the new site, so have checked with Ro, who builds websites for a living (Senior Interface Developer, he is - I suppose it's inevitable that at least one of my children should have a job title I don't really comprehend) and uses Wordpress regularly, which he says is excellent.

The new blog is not a wordpress. com blog but a stand-alone site that uses WP tools.  So a Wordpress ID doesn't work to sign in with, you need to enter in your details to register.

Categorically, wordpress.com does not have access to comments on razorbladeoflife.co.uk and there is no crossover.  If you register, your comments won't appear anywhere else and they won't be available for marketing or spamming.

If you don't want to store cookies on your computer, Ro recommends that you let your browser store your password and then, rather than clicking 'Remember Me,' which does store a cookie, you just have to click 'Login.'

I'll post on both sites for a few more days and then just leave a link here.  Ro has transferred all the posts and pictures and some of the comments, but there are about 28,000 of them and it's straining the system a bit.

If you read blogs on an iPhone, it's a lot nicer on the new site and the commenting is easier too.

Many, many thanks to Ro for setting this up for me, the site itself wasn't so much bother (though I kept going back to him with little points, mostly about the commenting set-up) but the transfer of 3,000 posts was and it took him the whole evening.  He has been extremely kind and patient throughout and I appreciate it all very much.

Oooh I'd LOVE to store Cookies on my computer.

I'm concerned the heat of the display may melt the chocolate so may be forced to eat them as they arrive.

Yes, that's why you need to store a password, some bugger keeps eating all the cookies.

I wonder who that could have been. *burps*

Unsuccessful in my attempts to register. Will try again when I'm in a better frame of mind.

Ah, so they were bearprints. I thought they were a bit big for a dog.

LZM, you have registered already. You should just be able to log in - if it's telling you that you can't register, it'll be because it recognises your email. You registered under the name LZM, if you didn't save the password it can send you instructions on getting a new one. I can email you if you're having a problem x

I'll take care of the Z-cookie, as discussed.

Nope! It keeps telling me either my username or password is invalid.(I'd been on a blogger site, so logged out, came back in my Wordpress persona and it hates me.)
There must be a way around this ridiculous cock-up. Or other Wordpress people having problems? I know Blogger gets all huffy if I try to comment with my Wordpress details.

Anyway, i think I have your email somewhere so will flick one across...

In the past, if I wasn't using a computer or another gizmo where I'd bookmarked your page, I'd just Google you. If I do that now this blog comes up but not your website. Justsaying (as I think young twits say)

You just log in with your name, not via WP or Blogger. I've added you, Di, hope that works, you should be sent a password.

I don't think I've made Google yet, or very low down. The new one will creep up the rankings, and there will always be a link from here to there - where I'm registered to comment it's with my Blogger identity, so anyone clicking through will come here.

The website is razorbladeoflife.co.uk

Darling, this is still the old blog. I've added you on the new, and you'll get an email with a password and a link to the new blog. Click on 'remember me' and you'll be signed in.

Pat, i should say that you have to put in your username (Pat) and the password first xx
