The day never starts well with a dental appointment ... still, just a check-up and nothing needs to be done. If it had been, I'd have had to cancel tomorrow's blood-letting. Dear oh dear, feels like a draining week.
I arrived home to find Al's old Morris Minor (it is old, although not as old as I am) out of its garage. Mike was taking it away to have a look at it. Al has decided to sell it. This is a big decision, it was his 17th birthday present and gosh, that is over half his lifetime ago.
*sits and ponders*
Anyway, it still has its original number plate, it's quite possible that it is more valuable than the car is.
It's a bit dusty.

I saw what you've done with the last two day's titles.
Could this be preparatory to storing certain musical instruments in the garage, or indeed turning the garage into a recital room?
Oddly enough, I didn't associate the two when I wrote them, Dave. I wasn't thinking about Tuesday's post when I wrote Wednesday's.
Al and I did speculate about what the Sage might fill the garage with, Chris.
You have at least given me an idea for tomorrow's post (a chance to play with today's blog-post title).
Ah, my first car was a Morris Minor, slightly older than this one as mine had semaphore signals and a 948cc engine. It was 4 door and the colour was Alaskan Grey. I was 21 when I bought my car from my mother's colleague, having my own car gave me freedom and safety to go out and about. At that time didn't need a car to go to work as I commuted into London.
It may be worth contacting the Morris Minor owners club before selling as they may be able to give advice.
Oh no, selling a family memmber to pay to feed one's children! Dreadful, what have things come to ;)
Mr BW tells me that selling old cars on ebay invariably makes more money than selling them through owners clubs, or other more traditional means like ads in classic car magazines. Personally I hate ebay.
Amazing Freudian typo in that first line...
It goes against the grain, BW, but I can see his point, that it has not been driven for 15 years and it would be better to go to someone who will look after it. We do have another one, after all.
Mine too, Madeleine, although it was from 1964 and then we had a 1968 one. This is 1959.
I remember thinking about buying a Morris Minor back in 1980 and it was old then. How old's this one?
Our first car (in the early sixties) was a 1948 Morris minor). Nice reliable crate - nothing much to go wrong with it- although I did have to start it with the crank handle occasionally.
I thought you had done it on purpose, BW!
They carried on making them until the late 60s I think, Sharon. We have a 1956 one which has a split windscreen, this is one of the earliest ones without. It did originally have the pop-out indicators, but they were replaced by lights before we bought it for Al.
The crank handle is brilliant, so useful on a winter's morning!
I always think that Moggy Minors are like (later versions of) Austin 7s - almost everybody loves them, and almost everybody has a story to tell you about them.
I did enlarge the photo to see if it had a split screen. If so, I might just have persuaded Mr BW that Mi1dred needs a friend. Sadly...
Has Al overlooked its value as a Blue Peter Badge? (ie to get in free to hundreds of different events every year). It would save hundreds of pounds in admission costs for days out with the family over the next few years... Mind you, one couldn't get 3 children and all one's paraphernalia into such a vehicle these days, could one? :)
If the split screen one is in need of a better home, I'll let you know, BW. I think his mind is made up - as you say, three children and two adults do not fit in nowadays, not with children's car seats.
Mine was 1961, reg was 212 BLL. It was 4 door. My next car was an original Fiat 500 in which I was stopped for speeding, but no points were accrued. The policeman just walked around the car, smiled and said that I was going a bit fast in a 30mph area. I suspect they were surprised the car went that fast!
As daughter has taken our Corsa to Glastonbury we are finding the diesel Citroen Picasso too wide and chunky for town use.
It's difficult in multi storey car parks and in slow traffic so we are considering buying a Honda Jazz. We'd intended to wait till the Corsa (N reg) came to the end of the road but will not wait now.
Dear Z, excuse me if I chat with Pixie Mum for a moment :- Hello Pixie Mum, after some decades of Volvos, we're now on our second Honda Jazz, and would thoroughly recommend them. We once got the two of us and TWO grandfather clocks into the first one, and could have got a third longcase clock in as well. They will do at least twice the mileage to the gallon than we ever got from a Volvo, and are thoroughly reliable little crates.
Regards, Mike and Ann.
P.s. Sorry about that Z. Thoroughly bad manners to chat across one lady to another.

As often as you like, M&A!
Thanks to Mike and Ann for that recommendation of the Jazz. Adam has an Y reg Honda Civic which is a similar shape and that seems quite spacious.
Ian did ask some one at church about their new Skoda (Golf lookalike) but I prefer the Jazz. Don't want diesel again, need something for town driving and narrow streets.
No rush for us, the Corsa will be back tomorrow but will start asking around if anyone would wish to purchase the Picasso.
Thanks to Z for hi-jacking her thread.
Sorry about that Z. Sort of triple entry book keeping. Don't know how I did it. Bit heavy handed on the keyboard, I suppose.
