Lots of pictures. Here we go.
The bricks have been here a while.
This is the long side.
This is the short side. You might notice that the corner isn't a right angle.
This is what just under a tonne of sand looks like.
Cement. In case you can't read. Wait, if you can't read, what are you doing here?
Z's tiny hand is ringless. Because I'm delicate and get blisters and callouses and such painful blemishes. Z thinks ahead, she does.
Dave inspects the area that I've been scything. The cement mixer keenly anticipates some action.
Dave had just mentioned that a real brickie can halve a brick with a single blow. He halves a brick with a single blow. He glows, gently. It's rather sweet.
The Sage is entrusted with the Adding of the Water, this being a very important job.
The cement mixer in action. I was sure I'd filmed this, because a still photo doesn't quite show the full picture, but it seems not.
The first trowelful!
The first brick!!
Hmm.
Yes.
Good.
Oh I say. Didn't he do well?

Weren't you supposed to be working?
Has it fallen over yet?
I've been leaning on my shovel.
It was still there a while ago, but it was tilting a bit. Or maybe I was tilting a bit. Hard to tell.
Dave is a Brick isn't he?
*stares in wonder*
It's really happening, isn't it!
Wow! It looks great already. Thanks for the pictoral.
Rah! (You know what I'm talking about)
My favourite one is the cement mixer going round.
Oh, so you were staring in wonder, Tilly. I thought you just wanted a cuddle.
Yes, everyone.
Er, gosh. Well done to all.
You all seem to be wearing rather too good clothes for bricklaying...
How many bricks laid in how long? (I am relably infomred that that is the brickies' marker)
Dave and I have photographed the holes in each other's jeans to reassure you on that front, BW.
And we're not going to count. We've agreed that there will be no element of competition or urgency about this and it's to be fun and without deadlines.
But as a matter of interest, the pillar was 6 courses high yesterday, and is now 12 courses high.
was that 'care in the community' or 'community service'? It's hard to tell from that angle :)
