It was the mid-seventies, there had been a recession and a lot of strikes. There was a real shortage of all sorts of things, when we were first married and wanted to buy a washing machine there was a waiting list! I'm afraid that British industries were more interested in digging their own graves than working to sell the goods they made. <br /><br />Wilf was lovely. He and my mother were married for ten years, he died suddenly just before their anniversary.
